This August, Sunriver Music Festival will fill Central Oregon with world-class music. Artistic Director & Conductor Brett Mitchell leads world-class orchestra musicians and acclaimed soloists in a remarkable 47th season held in two venues, the iconic Tower Theatre in downtown Bend and Sunriver Resort’s historic Great Hall.

Programs include four classical concerts, a pops concert, a solo violin performance and the family-friendly “Discover the Symphony” concert. The Summer Concert Series opens August 11 at the Tower Theatre and closes August 23 at Sunriver Resort's Great Hall.

"One of my favorite things about Central Oregon is the power of nature that we're able to witness all year round, so I'm particularly thrilled to share with you an entire season filled with pieces inspired by the four classical elements: earth, water, fire and air,” said Mitchell. “Composers for centuries have been inspired by the enormity and grandeur of nature, and I know you'll be just as inspired when you hear their extraordinary music."

“This summer, Central Oregon residents and visitors will experience eclectic live music performed by talented musicians from around the country, both in the orchestra and as guest soloists,” said Executive Director Meagan Iverson. “Maestro Mitchell is an esteemed conductor with a dedication to artistic excellence, creative concert curation and inspired community engagement.”

Sunriver Music Festival also presents free music education events, masterclasses and spontaneous chamber music concerts during these two weeks in August. Most orchestra rehearsals are free and open to the public. More information can be found at sunrivermusic.org

Tickets start at $36 and can be purchased online at sunrivermusic.org or by phone at 541-593-9310. Tickets for age 25 and under are $25.  A limited number of free tickets for age 17 and under are available by calling 541-593-9310.

Embracing Change!

In a pivotal moment for Bend's cultural landscape, Bend-La Pine Schools has announced the emergency demolition of the beloved Bend Senior High School auditorium. This decision, driven by safety concerns stemming from structural issues, marks a significant change for a venue deeply cherished by the community, including the Central Oregon Symphony.

What Does This Mean For the 2024-2025 Season?

Already knowing that the Bend High Auditorium would not be available for performances during the 2024-2028 remodel project, this past spring we began the not-so-simple task of pursuing a new home for symphony concerts.

In other words, we were already planning a venue change long before this surprise announcement. Within the next few weeks, we plan to finalize the details of our 2024-2025 season including venue, dates, and repertoire, with our members being first to know.

While the setting will be different, our commitment to bringing exceptional classical music to Central Oregon remains unchanged.

We are excited to share this upcoming season with you.

Foundations Support High Desert Chamber Music Educational Outreach Programs !

High Desert Chamber Music is honored to receive foundation support from the Clark Foundation ($2,500) and the Deschutes Cultural Coalition ($1,500) this year. These funds benefit our educational programming, which is provided at no cost to any students, teachers, or schools in Central Oregon. With our three areas of focus, our goal is to allow young children to experience the highest levels of music performance and cultivate an interest that can lead to a lifelong appreciation and enjoyment of the performing arts.

1) Visits to Local Schools
2) Master Class
3) Spotlight Chamber Players

The Clark Foundation is a private foundation that provides grants to qualified non-profit organizations in Oregon.  Established in 1968 by Maurie Clark, the Foundation continues to be directed by members of the Clark family and other civic or charitable minded individuals intent on supporting the community at large.

The Deschutes Cultural Coalition awards grants to arts and cultural organizations in Deschutes County within the culture field including arts, heritage, and humanities.  Grant funding is sponsored by the Oregon Cultural Trust and Deschutes County and supports projects and activities that address one of the four priorities outlined within the Deschutes Cultural Plan.

“We feel incredibly fortunate to receive support that allows us to present the quantity and quality of our educational outreach," said Executive Director Isabelle Senger. “We take pride in offering extensive and unique programs, and we hope to reach every student who has an interest in what we provide."

High Desert Chamber Music’s mission is to bring world-class chamber music and musicians to Central Oregon. As the premier and leading chamber music organization in the region, HDCM offers an exciting roster of professional performing artists.
