FIRST THURSDAY TAIZÉ!

Next up December 1st! The Taize Choir of Central Oregon invites you to participate in an hour of nondenominational music, prayer, and silence at our monthly ecumenical services on the First Thursday October through May. All services are at 7pm at St. Helens Hall, Trinity Episcopal Church, 231 NW Idaho in downtown Bend, except for April 13 at Shalom Bayit. HOLIDAY MAGIC IS BACK AT THE TOWER!!

Join the Chorale for one of their fan-favorite classic concerts at the Tower Theatre! Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 3rd at 7:00 PM and Sunday, December 4th at 3:00 PM to join in the ringing in of the 2022 holiday season. Music includes fresh takes on classic seasonal music from around the world and works from not one, not two, but THREE local composers! The Cascade Chorale is joined in this celebration by local cellist and composer Chris Thompson and local vocal jazz ensemble, Jazz Central.

High Desert Chamber Music’s Fifteenth Annual Gala!!

High Desert Chamber Music announces the following students were selected for this year’s Spotlight Chamber Players program: Nicholas Oncken (violin), Ezra Oncken (violin), and Aaron Goyal (guitar). This program provides a high level of regular chamber music instruction to aspiring young musicians.

The Fifteenth Annual Gala returns to Bend Golf Club on Saturday, December 3, at 6:00pm and this in-person event will include a performance featuring the Spotlight Chamber Players, Cocktail Hour, Silent Auction, Dinner, and Dessert Dash. Bob Shaw from the KTVZ NewsChannel 21 Team returns as this year’s Master of Ceremonies.
 
 “We are thrilled to be returning to an in-person gathering, after the past two years of virtual presentations,” states Executive Director Isabelle Senger. “The Spotlight Chamber Players have a new and unique instrumental combination this year, and they will be the featured performers that evening. As always, support from this important evening allows HDCM to continue offering all our Educational Outreach programs at no cost to students, families, and schools in Central Oregon.”

High Desert Chamber Music’s Educational Outreach includes performances and Q&A sessions at local schools, public master classes, and the Spotlight Chamber Players chamber music training program.

Tickets are available by phone or online. Two ticket options this year allow you to attend the whole evening, or just the Cocktail Hour & Silent Auction. The mission of High Desert Chamber Music is to bring world-class chamber music and musicians to Central Oregon. Through our Concert Series and Educational Outreach programs, we aspire to heighten a level of appreciation, awareness, and understanding of this great genre of classical music.

CONCERT ROCK VIOLINIST AARON MEYER
HEADLINES SUNRIVER’S TRADITIONS HOLIDAY CONCERT IN DECEMBER!

Catch the spirit of the joyous holiday season by attending the Traditions Holiday Concert, featuring world-renowned Concert Rock Violinist Aaron Meyer. 

There are two concerts this year: 7 pm Saturday, Dec. 3 and 2 pm Sunday, Dec. 4at Sunriver Resort’s Homestead. Tickets are $45 and available now at sunrivermusic.org. Hosted by Sunriver Music Festival and the Sunriver Area Chamber of Commerce along with presenting sponsor Sunriver Resort, concert rock violinist Aaron Meyer and his four-piece band have been captivating audiences worldwide displaying virtuosity ranging from a dynamic rendition of Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” to Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb” to the Beatles classic “Let it Be.” He will also be performing songs from his holiday albums, “Do You Hear What I Hear?” and “The Holiday Spirit.”

“We are excited to welcome Aaron back for this Traditions Holiday Concert, especially after the hiatus of the last two years,” Sunriver Music Festival Executive Director Meagan Iverson says. “His concerts are truly a delightful experience as he whisks audiences along on a magical musical adventure, captivating listeners with every note.”

Iverson encourages people to reserve their tickets early, since Meyer’s concerts often sells out early.

“We decided to offer two concerts this year to provide opportunities for more people to attend,” Iverson said. “His music has entertained audiences throughout the world, and it’s an honor to have Aaron perform in Central Oregon.

Each time he visits Sunriver, Meyer also presents an educational concert for the students at Three Rivers Elementary School in Sunriver. Aaron’s school programs inspire students to appreciate music as well as pursue their own musical interests.

Aaron played his first violin when he was five, and by the time he was 11 years old, he had soloed with the prestigious Philadelphia Orchestra. After performing as an original member of world-renowned band Pink Martini, Aaron has gone on to share his talent with vastly contrasting artists such as Smokey Robinson, Aaron Neville, The Temptations, Leftover Salmon, and the platinum record selling band, Everclear. Messiah and more!

Handel’s Messiah returns as part of the Central Oregon Mastersingers’ traditional Holiday repertoire in three December performances at Bend’s Tower Theater. 
 
The three concerts, presented by The Tower Theatre Foundation, will include the Messiah and several holiday carols. Concerts are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are available through the Tower Theater Box Office, towertheatre.org, telephone 541-317-0700.
 
Artistic Director and Conductor Christian Clark is thrilled to lead Handel’s glorious Messiah for the first time, having previously performed the tenor solos. “We hope the thrilling choruses, soaring solos, and triumphant orchestration will be a joyful and powerful beginning to your holiday celebrations!” said Clark.
 
The ensemble will perform Part 1 (the “Christmas” portion) of Messiah, which includes six choruses, solos, duets, and orchestral interludes. With splendid soloists from Bend and beyond: Samantha Winter and Jocelyn Claire Thomas, sopranos; Jacalyn Kreitzer, mezzo-soprano; David Gustafson, tenor; and Zachary Lenox, baritone. The second half will feature holiday favorites including The First Nowell, Angels We Have Heard on High, Ring Out, Ye Bells, O Holy Night, and three splendid versions of Ave Maria, including the beloved setting from Rachmaninoff’s Vespers. And not to be missed…a brand new arrangement of A Basque Carol, by award-winning local composer and cellist, Chris Thomas.
 
The concert concludes with the famous Hallelujah Chorus, and the audience will be invited to join in singing the finale.

In addition to the Dec. 10-11 Holiday Concerts, Mastersingers will be caroling at several Central Oregon locations including the Deschutes Public Library and the Old Mill District, Dec. 13-17.

Messiah and more!

Presented by the Tower Theater Foundation, the Central Oregon Mastersingers will return to the Tower Theatre on December 10th and 11th with selections from Handel’s Messiah, along with other holiday favorites. The 50-voice choir, led by Artistic Director Christian Clark, will be joined by a chamber orchestra composed of local musicians (many of whom are members of the Central Oregon Symphony), and first-rate professional soloists from Bend, Eugene, and Portland. The Mastersingers are dedicated to raising choral music to the highest possible art form in Central Oregon, inspiring diverse, enriching, and inclusive performances and audiences.
