July 28, 7:30 PM, Pioneer Park, Bend July 29, 7:30 PM Fir Street Park, Sisters July 30, 5:00 PM General Duffy's, Redmond Guerrilla Shakespeare is proud to present its sixth annual production: QUEEN LEAR by William Shakespeare, directed by Raechel Gilland and featuring Jaime Speed as Queen Lear. Towards the end of her reign, Lear divides her kingdom between her two most flattering daughters, shunning the other. Once the deed is done, Lear’s daughters spite her, sending her into a storm to spiral into madness. Will she be able to restore her kingdom, legacy and the love of her one true daughter before it’s too late? This production of Queen Lear features musical elements by Janelle Musson and a talented cast of local actors. Seating is FESTIVAL STYLE; please bring chairs or blankets for seating. Circle Sing for All - gather, sing, smile! Sunday, July 30th at 6pm, FREE! Grace First Lutheran Church 2265 NW Shevlin Park Road Gathering with other people to sing is one of the most ancient and meaningful things we can do. All are welcome to come, to sing (no matter your skill), and to celebrate being alive! Hosted by members of the Gospel Choir of the Cascades. We will sing easy yet powerful songs from many genres in a space with cathedral-esque acoustics. No experience required and refreshments will be provided afterwards. SUNRIVER MUSIC FESTIVAL OPENS WITH THE FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA! The 46th season of Sunriver Music Festival begins on Saturday, August 5 with a Festival Orchestra concert featuring the Central Oregon Mastersingers, conducted by Brett Mitchell. Other season performances feature mezzo-soprano Sarah Mattox (August 7), violinist William Hagen (August 11), soprano Kathryn Mueller (August 14), and pianist Andrew von Oeyen (August 15 and 17).  Artistic Director and Conductor Brett Mitchell leads world-class orchestra musicians from around the country. Concerts are held in two iconic venues: the Tower Theatre in Bend and the Sunriver Resort Great Hall. 2023 Season Ticket Information Visit sunrivermusic.org to purchase tickets and to learn more about the Festival’s acclaimed maestro, musicians, and guest artists. For the main season concerts, tickets start at $36. For those under age 25, tickets are $25. For the Discover the Symphony concert, adult tickets are $15 and ages 18 and under are free. Pops Concert – August 7, 2023 – Tower Theatre, Bend, 7:30 p.m. Enjoy the Festival Orchestra in a lively pops concert of Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award-winning themes from an abundance of favorite movies and musicals. Featuring Sarah Mattox, mezzo-soprano. Classical Concert II – August 11, 2023 – Tower Theatre, Bend, 7:30 p.m. The return of William Hagen, violin! Last season, Hagen brought down the house with his performance of the Brahms Violin Concerto, and this season’s performance of the Bruch Violin Concerto is expected to be even better. Also on this concert: Milhaud’s La creation du monde and Brahms Third Symphony with an expanded orchestra. Classical Concert III – August 14, 2023 – Sunriver Resort Great Hall, 7:30 p.m. Introducing Kathryn Mueller, soprano. Mueller’s crystal clear and pristine voice will sparkle in a beautiful pairing of works by Barber and Mahler. The concert opens with Copland’s lively Three Latin American Sketches. Discover the Symphony - August 15, 2023 - Sunriver Resort Great Hall, 3:00 p.m. This entertaining matinee presents orchestral music in a fun and informal setting. Bring the whole family and enjoy a one-hour concert in the Great Hall with virtuosic young soloists and the full orchestra. Free for kids 18 and under, fun for all ages! Solo Piano Concert – August 15, 2023 – Sunriver Resort Great Hall, 7:30 p.m. The iconic Great Hall sets the scene for a solo performance from Andrew von Oeyen, one of the most captivating pianists of this generation. “Brilliant technique can be taken for granted among today’s concert pianists, but von Oeyen’s playing goes a step further. He leaves you convinced that he can do absolutely anything he likes with a keyboard.” – Chicago Tribune Classical Concert IV - August 17, 2023 – Sunriver Resort Great Hall, 7:30 p.m. The night after his solo piano concert, return to the Great Hall to experience Andrew von Oeyen with the full orchestra in Beethoven’s epic “Emperor” Piano Concerto. Sunriver Music Festival's Festival Faire Is Here! FESTIVAL FAIRE, JULY 16th! Limited tickets remain for the Festival Faire, Sunriver Music Festival’s primary fundraising event. All proceeds directly support the Young Artists Scholarship (YAS) program and the 46th season of bringing professional orchestral musicians to Bend and Sunriver. Over the past 28 years, the Festival has awarded nearly $700,000 to Central Oregon music students through the YAS program. On Sunday, July 16 at 4 p.m., attendees will enjoy an elegant event in the Sunriver Resort Great Hall. Dress is festive black and white, and entertainment will include performances by the Central Oregon Mastersingers, YAS recipients and mezzo-soprano Sarah Mattox, a YAS alumna. This year’s auction features a trip to Florence, Italy, with a guided walking tour of the Italian Renaissance (airfare, lodging and tours included); "Wines of the World" wine cooler filled with high-end vintages from around the world; Oregon Ducks football tickets with a premier tailgating parking spot; an exclusive house concert in December with concert rock violinist Aaron Meyer; and more. Sunriver Resort chefs will prepare hors d’oeuvres and complimentary wine and soft drinks will be served. Tickets for July 16’s annual fundraiser Festival Faire are available at sunrivermusic.org or 541-593-9310. Cost is $100 per person, including entertainment, food and wine. Individual general admission tickets are available or full tables can be reserved for groups.
