VALENTINE'S DINNER & DANCE CONCERT!

Blue Skies Big Band, based in Eugene Oregon, loves performing the big band dance tunes - those familiar Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman tunes. “Sunriver is always a really fun concert for us because so many dancers get up on the floor! The interaction between musicians and the audience makes for a fun night” says Dr. Dan Cathey, the band’s director for the last few years. “I’ve loaded this year’s setlist with beloved swing tunes, cha-chas, waltzes, and more, and, of course, a few showcasing our excellent band members, too.”

2023 continues the tradition of Sunriver Music Festival's crowd-pleasing Valentine's Dinner & Dance Concert on Tuesday, February 14, at Sunriver Resort’s historic Great Hall. Few seats remain, so get your tickets now at sunrivermusic.org or call 541-593-1084.

Blue Skies is a 17-piece big band keeping alive the great tradition of big band swing music of the 1920s-40s. The tight vocal harmonies of the Jewel Tones front the band. This annual Valentine’s Dinner & Dance Concert is an opportunity for a delicious night out in the iconic Great Hall. Kick up your heels on the dance floor or tap your toe from the comfort of your table. Tickets are $125 per person and include hosted happy hour, multi-course dinner, and the full concert.

NEXT UP WITH SUNRIVER MUSIC FESTIVAL:

Piano Showcase at the Tower Theatre on April 1 - This annual event celebrates the virtuosity and versatility of piano, featuring acclaimed pianist Sean Chen. For complete program and ticket information, visit sunrivermusic.org.

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
of Central Oregon
seeks Interim Choir Director!

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Central Oregon is seeking an Interim Choir Director for January through June 2023. The part-time position is for 8-12 hours a week. We have a joyful and enthusiastic choir of about 30 people of varied skill levels. The choir performs twice a month on Sunday mornings and rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30 p.m. We appreciate a wide variety of music. You are as likely to hear Happy by Pharrell Williams as you are Randall Thompson. We love creative thinking and experimentation in our worship. Our accompanist is experienced, has worked with choirs for years, and is a fantastic person (Debbie McMahon). Our congregation is supportive and a generous audience that considers the choir and music the heart of the congregation.

The Interim Choir Director works with the minister and the Worship Team in service planning. We act with equity regarding artist copyrights. Mindful of appropriation, we seek a diversity of style, perspective, and musical expressions. We are hopeful to find an individual who is up for having some fun, leading the choir, creating transformational worship experiences, and exploring the power of music with our community.

Thematic intention is important in our Sunday services The coming themes are:

January: Finding Our Center
February: Love
March: Vulnerability
April: Resistance
May: Creativity
June: Delight

Unitarian Universalism is a progressive, liberal religious tradition welcoming a diversity of beliefs. We gather across the full spectrum theologically from theist to atheist. As such, our musical selections are not Christocentric anthems often found in church communities but rather draw upon inspirations from traditional to secular choral arrangements.

The Interim Choir Director will not be excluded from the search process for the permanent Music Director position, which will occur in the winter/spring.

Please feel free to contact Rev. Scott Rudolph at minister@uufco.org with any questions. To apply, send a cover letter and resume to the same email address.
