THEMATIC IMPROVISATION WORKSHOP!
Are you a musician that is curious about jazz improvisation? Wednesday, February 15, 2023, 5:00 pm Wille Hall, Coats Campus Center FREE! Steve Treseler, a professional saxophonist and teaching artist from Seattle, will present a one-hour jazz improvisation workshop for musicians of any age and experience level (no jazz experience necessary). The origin of jazz improvisation was spontaneous variations to familiar themes, and this approach is practical for musicians of all levels. We will explore recordings of masterful thematic soloists and dive into actionable strategies for improvising variations on a theme and motivic development.
