CO Symphony Music Masters Series! The Music Masters Series brings renowned guest musicians to Central Oregon to feature specific musical instruments. Join us this weekend in welcoming Martha Long, Principal Flute of the Oregon Symphony. There will be a recital, showcasing Martha, on Friday, November 10th at 7 pm, followed by a Flute Masterclass the next day on Saturday, November 11th at 10 am. Both events will be held in Wille Hall at COCC.  Martha Long, Principal, Flute of the Oregon Symphony  Martha Conwell Long joined the Oregon Symphony as principal flute at the beginning of the 2016-2017 season. Previously she held the same position with the Fort Collins Symphony and the San Antonio Symphony. Martha appeared as a soloist several times with the San Antonio Symphony, performing works by J.S. Bach, W.A. Mozart, and G.P. Telemann. Martha received her Bachelor of Music degree from The Colburn School in Los Angeles, where she studied with Jim Walker. Martha continued her studies at the New England Conservatory in Boston, where she completed a Graduate Diploma as a student of Elizabeth Rowe, principal flute of the Boston Symphony. CONCERT & WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITIES! St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church will host Fr. Ricky Manalo, a Paulist priest and award-winning composer from New York City on Friday and Saturday, November 10 & 11. Fr. Ricky writes powerful and artistically well-crafted music and his songs are inspiring and healing.  Experience two days of uplifting music and spiritual renewal with Fr. Ricky Manalo at St. Francis in Bend.    CONCERT:  Friday, November 10, 6:30-8:30 PM / 27th Street Church. Fr. Circle Sing - Be the Music! Sunday, November 12th at 4pm Grace First Lutheran Church  2265 NW Shevlin Park Road All are welcome to come, gather in a circle and sing. We will sing familiar songs that move the soul, and no experience or special skills are required. Refreshments will be provided afterwards and please feel free to bring a friend - the more the merrier! We sing in a gorgeous space with cathedral-esque acoustics. Bend Pops Fall Concert! Join Bend Pops Orchestra for an afternoon of great music!  And this fall, we bring the music to Redmond for the first time!  Our fall concert will be held in Redmond at Ridgeview HS Auditorium, with a repeat performance in Bend at Mountain View HS. Our program includes Robert Sheldon’s inspiring Triumph of the Argonauts, a toe-tapping medley of old favorites in Gershwin By George!, magical melodies from all the movies in The Magic of Harry Potter, Quincy Jones’ anything-but-square Austin Powers’ theme Soul Bossa Nova, and an introduction to the holiday season with Brian Balmages’ joyful Festive Fanfare, a stirring rendition of Gustav Holst’s In the Bleak Midwinter, and Pops’ holiday standard, Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride.   In addition we have some small ensembles performing more great pieces. It's a fantastic mix of music with appeal for the whole family! High Desert Chamber Music Offers Complimentary Tickets to Central Oregon K-12 Students! Educational Outreach efforts include admission to HDCM Concert SeriesHigh Desert Chamber Music presents an annual Concert Series that brings some of our nation’s most prominent classical musicians to Central Oregon. As part of their visit to our area, every performer participates in outreach events that include a public Master Class, school visits, or performances at local retirement communities. To ensure equal access, all educational and outreach activities are offered at no cost to students, teachers, schools, and retirees.   In addition to these efforts, High Desert Chamber Music offers complimentary tickets to concerts in the HDCM Concert Series to Central Oregon K-12 students when arranged through their school’s music director. High Desert Chamber Music announces their Sixteenth Annual Gala will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on Saturday, December 2, at 6:00pm. This event will include a performance featuring the Spotlight Chamber Players, Cocktail Hour, Silent Auction, Dinner, and Dessert Dash. Bob Shaw returns as this year’s Master of Ceremonies.    “We are excited to be moving our event to the home of our Concert Series, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship,” states Executive Director Isabelle Senger. “The two new groups in our Spotlight Chamber Players program will be the featured performers that evening. Redmond Community Choir Presents Sounds of the Season! Redmond Community Choir presents their annual “Sounds of the Season” concert on Sunday, December 10th at Redmond High School. The Redmond Community Choir, a highlighted program of COCC’s Community Education department, provides a welcoming, high quality musical experience for singers of all skill levels who are willing to work to learn the music.  No audition is required. Master Class Opportunity for Violinists and Pianists with the Kaplan Duo! High Desert Chamber Music announces applications are available to perform in a Master Class with Mark Kaplan and David Kaplan. He has recorded a wide range of repertoire and has been a sought-after professor at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music since 2005.
