Cascade Winds 2024 Meet & Greet
Thursday, February 1!


Do you have a child or student interested in music, learning about band instruments, and seeing what it's like to participate in a music ensemble? Come to Wille Hall February 1st and have them “sit inside” the Cascade Winds band! Admission is free.

Check-in begins at 6:00 and festivities begin at 6:30pm. Students are invited to speak with the musicians and ask questions prior to rehearsal.

The rehearsal begins promptly at 7pm. There are seats available within the band so students may get up close and personal with the Winds musicians.

There are 50 seats - first come first served. Your child or student will Experience the Winds.

You must preregister. Arrive in time to check in and get your golden ticket. To preregister, send an email to info@cascadewinds.org, with “Tickets” in the subject line. Please include the student's name and instrument preference. We hope to see you there!

HDCM Presents a Special Valentine’s Day Concert with the Aviara Trio!

On Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 7:30pm the Aviara Trio will be featured in the HDCM Concert Series at the Tower Theatre for a special Valentine’s Day performance. Concert-goers will receive a rose and custom treat from Goody’s Chocolates. This concert is brought to you by the Pine Tavern Restaurant. The program features works inspired by love and romance, including Morricone “Cinema Paradiso”, Rachmaninov “Vocalise”, and Brahms Piano Trio No.1
 
“The Aviara Trio has made several appearances in the HDCM Concert Series over the years, and we enjoy bringing them back by popular demand”, states HDCM Executive Director Isabelle Senger. “They have a special program of popular and classic works that will be sure to please.”
 
This exciting ensemble has made an indelible impression on the musical landscape of Southern California for the past decade. Most recently, the trio was honored to perform at the Hollywood Bowl on Celebrate LA, Los Angeles Philharmonic's 100-year anniversary celebration. Members of the trio have been Grand Prize Winners in the Coleman National Chamber Music Competition, Finalists in the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and Concert Artist’s Guild Auditions, winners of the D’angelo International Piano Competition, and the La Jolla Young Artists Competition. They have soloed with the Tokyo Symphony, Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, Orchestra Nova, St. Louis Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, and La Jolla Symphony.

We are pleased to perform another work by Louise Farrenc, her "Concert Overture No. 2". We will also hear the soulful strains and driving rhythms of Spanish dance music drawn from Manuel de Falla’s ballet, “The Three-Cornered Hat.”

The winners of the Central Oregon Symphony Association Young Artist Competition will be featured in this concert, performing music by Tchaikovsky, Mozart, and Bottesini.

Season tickets are provided with a donation of $60 or more.

Tickets are also on sale now for Piano Showcase at the Tower on March 16. Piano Showcase at the Tower Theatre features acclaimed classical pianist Sean Chen and award-winning blues and boogie-woogie pianist Arthur Migliazza. This multi-genre event—including a masterclass, workshop and diverse concert program—celebrates the versatility and virtuosity of the piano.

Sean Chen is a genius at displaying the virtuosity and versatility of the piano. An award-winning classical pianist (Cliburn International Piano Competition, American Pianists Awards), Chen is also in demand for creative collaborations and commissions. His exceptional transcriptions for the piano range from Beethoven’s 9th Symphony to video game music and everything in between. Chen’s musical flexibility is a perfect fit for this event’s emphasis on the uniqueness of blending genres. Currently Artist-in-Residence at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, he continues to appear in solo and concerto performances throughout the United States and has been featured with the Sunriver Music Festival Orchestra several times.

Arthur Migliazza began playing the piano professionally at the age of 13 and quickly came under the wing of esteemed mentors/teachers such as Henry Butler, Ann Rabson and Mr. B. He has been inducted into the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame, was a finalist at the 2010 and 2014 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN, and in his 30+ years of performing has played on some of the world’s greatest stages, including Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow as part of the sold-out Kings of Boogie Tour, Birdland Jazz Club in New York City, Benaroya Hall in Seattle, as well as on National Public Radio in the US. Arthur was a featured performer at Sunriver Music Festival’s first three Piano Showcase events and his return for this 6th annual is greatly anticipated.

Sunriver Music Festival invites a Central Oregon artist to create the commemorative 47th season poster.

“For over four decades, Sunriver Music Festival has featured some of the most accomplished painters and photographers in the region. The collaboration is a beautiful experience for all involved,” shares Executive Director Meagan Iverson.

Maria Leistad, 2023 selected poster artist, agrees: “It was an honor to have my art showcased by Sunriver Music Festival for the 46th season. The natural music of this landscape that many of us call home is the perfect backdrop for the Festival’s immensely talented musicians. I hope that “Sunriver’s Trumpeter” conveys the same feelings of tranquility and magnificence that Sunriver Music Festival has come to represent for so many of us.”

Here’s your opportunity to join the ranks of esteemed artists by submitting your artwork to the selection committee, which is comprised of a jury of accomplished artists from the Artists Gallery Sunriver.
