CONCERT FUN!
Musician Extraordinaire Stephen Marshall will present a free concert this coming Friday, November 7, at 7:00PM, at Nativity Lutheran Church in Bend.  Stephen recently served as Director of Music at the church before moving to Los Angeles this past summer.  Stephen has had a life filled with interesting experiences: education, music, art, architecture, design, piano, singing, choirs, pipe organ, composition, teaching and performing. Now, he is intentional in doing what he loves most: teaching and performing in community - using his musical, artistic, and teaching gifts to encourage and inspire people of all ages.  Stephen describes the concert he’ll be presenting as “an interactive musical experience - organ, singing, and piano. . . . It is about one hour in length and starts with a quiet, centering opening piece followed by a vocal solo (accompanying myself) of a piece that is a testament to my life in church music.  Three piano solos follow (Debussy, Scriabin, and Rachmaninoff).  Then, a ‘special guest performer,’ my ten-year-old student, Brandon Allen, will play the third movement of Haydn's Piano Concerto with me on the organ as the ‘orchestra.’  Finally, the last section of the concert will feature me playing four organ pieces, concluding the concert with Festival Toccata on full-organ.” Stephen adds, ”I used to be very good at presenting stuffy concerts. Now, I make it my goal to create an interactive, fun experience where audience members of all ages leave having enjoyed a time of learning, interaction, and musical inspiration.” Admission to the concert is free. Donations will go toward the church’s music fund.  Nativity Lutheran Church is located at 60850 Brosterhous Road in Bend. For more information, please contact Clyde Thompson at 541-728-1282.    |
